To encourage and fortify relationships between military service members, veterans, their families, their friends, and their Country; to nurture the path of communication for everyone, ensuring that no one is alone or left behind; and proving that we have not, are not, and will never forget the nobility of their sacrifices.

Help Bring Pin-Ups For Vets To Reno Nevada

Gina Elise from Pin-Ups For Vets (http://www.pinupsforvets.com) and Words For Warriors are looking for sponsors to support a moral boosting visit to the Reno, Nevada VA Hospital. Pin-Ups For Vets is a non-profit organization which supports it's visits to VA hospitals, military bases, and active duty military on the home front and overseas through the sale of 1940's inspired pin-up calendars.

Gina is a super hero in the military support sphere, her accomplishments have been reported by Inside Edition, ABC, NBC, Fox News, American Forces Network, Good Day LA, Desert Car Kings, The Washington Times, Boston Herald, The Denver Post, and Stars and Stripes. Did I mention she is beautiful and sweet with a heart of gold too?

If that isn't enough to convince you to get involved, the Pin-Ups For Vets Mission Statement reads:
"Pin-Ups For Vets raises funds for medical equipment and program expansion to improve Veteran's healthcare, enhances quality of life for ill Veterans across the U.S. through personal bedside visits to deliver gifts of appreciation. promotes volunteerism at Veterans Hospitals, conducts morale-boosting events for military spouses, and boosts morale for deployed troops through delivery of care packages."
Donations and sponsorships to support our Wounded and Veterans in Reno are needed! If you would like more information, you can contact Gina directly at Gina@pinupsforvets.com or you can email Kristina at wordsforwarriors@gmail.com

Last week I had my sixth month dental appointment and cleaning. I see the same Dental Assistant every visit. This visit when I walked in, my Dental Assistant said to me, "Before I forget, you were the one who informed me on the needs of our Wounded Warriors and because of you, I donate to them every year. So thank you."

Just goes to show you, you never know who is listening, and how serious they will take you. A simple conversation about me participating in the annual Valour-IT fundraiser has turned into education and action for an otherwise uninformed civilian.

Who have you talked to lately? With the drawdown of Iraq, and thousands still in Afghanistan as well as other hostile Middle Eastern countries, it's not time to forget our men and women.

Relay For Life "Paint The Town Purple"

This year Susanville participated in Paint The Town Purple in an effort to recognize and celebrate those who have fight cancer and celebrate life. As a fundraiser the Words For Warriors Linked team decorated businesses for a donation.  We had 10 businesses and raised over $300 for Relay.  As glad as I am to have raised the money, it was a lot of fun too. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
The purple ribbons, moons, stars, and fight back image are difficult to see, but there.

The Pet Store had several windows decorated. There again difficult to see, but there.
Forest Office Products another fine business showing there support.
A big thank you to everyone who participated this year!

Words For Warriors Linked Fundraiser for Relay For Life

Greetings Everyone~
I just wanted to give a giant THANK YOU to everyone who helped out today at the Children's Fair to support our Team. We raised $131.50 today.  We got some fantastic artwork from the children to send downrange.  We got several kid decorated Luminaria's to Honor those Warriors of Cancer. It was even sunny today... no snow. Here are a few pictures of the festivities.
Here is the booth right after we set up, with two tables covered in paper for kids to draw pictures and write notes to our Warriors.
This little boy came to the Children's Fair ready for action.

He is a proud First Grader and spent almost an hour on his drawing of a boat, complete with good guys and a flag.

This little One year old was one of our youngest artists who's dad helped her draw hearts at her request.
